Bet Paid Off: Smith Finally Wears Celebrini’s Boston University Jersey to Sharks Game

The bet has finally been paid off.

Over a month in the making, ex-Boston College star Will Smith has finally wore Macklin Celebrini’s Boston University jersey to a San Jose Sharks game.

Appropriately, the bet was paid off before San Jose squared off against the Boston Bruins on Saturday night.

This all started in late January, when BC swept a weekend series against BU.

The San Jose Sharks star rookies had made a friendly wager over that series, and before the Jan. 27 tilt against the Pittsburgh Penguins, Celebrini walked into SAP Center wearing Will Smith’s Eagles jersey.

But Macklin Celebrini turned the tables last month, when the Terriers topped the Eagles in the Beanpot final.

So what’s the next bet for the future of the San Jose Sharks?

While the Terriers and Eagles were eliminated early in the 2025 Hockey East Championship tournament, both BU and BC have made the NCAA Men’s Hockey Tournament.

Celebrini and Smith could also be on opposite sides of the World Championships in April, Celebrini for Canada and Smith for USA.

So Celebrini-Smith Bet III, anybody?
