SJHN Daily: The Time That Clowe Was Mad at Jumbo & Elbowed Boyle in the Face
Joe Thornton’s genial nature hid a competitive fire.
That’s the heart of former San Jose Sharks beat writer Kevin Kurz’s retrospective on Thornton, ranked 32nd on The Athletic’s top-100 modern NHL players list.
Logan Couture, Dan Boyle, Ryane Clowe, Jeremy Roenick, Patrick Marleau, and of course, Jumbo himself, were among the voices tapped in this fun look-back at a better time in Sharks history.
There’s a great story about when Clowe got so riled up by Thornton, he elbowed Boyle in the face.
There’s also his family’s reaction to Thornton being left off 2017’s NHL 100 Greatest Players list.
The Athletic rectifies this, to some degree, with this tribute to the San Jose Sharks legend.
