SJHN Daily: Pavelski Tips In 1,000th Career Point, Knyzhov Sharks’ Masterton Nominee

It was a night of milestones for the San Jose Sharks, current and former.

The headline, of course, is Erik Karlsson becoming the first defenseman in 31 years to put up 100 points.

But in a funny twist of fate, former Sharks captain Joe Pavelski, now with the Dallas Stars, hit 1,000 career points also on Monday night.

Naturally, he scored it on a tip-in.

Pavelski played 13 years in San Jose and finished with 761 career points in teal, including 355 goals.

Speaking of the 700-point Sharks’ club, Logan Couture joined Pavelski, Joe Thornton, and Patrick Marleau in that exclusive company on Monday night too.

In the summer of 2019, Pavelski signed with the Stars. That off-season, the Sharks inked Karlsson to an eight-year, $92 million dollar contract. Fair or not, since then, Sharks fans have linked Karlsson’s contract with then-GM Doug Wilson’s inability to re-sign fan favorite Pavelski.

In 285 games with Dallas, Pavs has 93 goals and 146 assists.
