The San Jose Sharks will keep James Reimer, at least for the rest of this season.

Per Pierre LeBrun, the Sharks fielded a number of calls about their veteran goalie, but decided to keep him:

When the San Jose Sharks acquired Kaapo Kahkonen this morning for Jake Middleton and a 2022 fifth-rounder, there was some thought that the next domino to fall would be Reimer. The Sharks currently have three NHL goalies under control for next season: Reimer at $2.25 million, the injured Adin Hill at $2.175 million, and the RFA Kahkonen.

Hill could be put on injured reserve soon, but that doesn’t resolve how the San Jose Sharks will handle their goaltending situation next year. However, there are worse problems than having three cost-controlled NHL-caliber goalies to choose from over the summer.

Reimer has enjoyed a solid season with the San Jose Sharks after coming aboard during free agency this past summer.
