Hertl, Dillon Still Having Good Time

Published

on

It looks like Tomas Hertl and Brenden Dillon’s friendship will survive this exchange last night:

Hertl quipped after the game: “He was in my house yesterday. I don’t know what I did to him.”

“Maybe I’ll meet him in the parking lot later,” he added, laughing.

Or maybe Tomas Hertl will meet Brenden Dillon in the hallway? San Jose Hockey Now overheard Dillon visiting the San Jose Sharks side in the aftermath of the Sharks’ 4-3 victory over the Jets. Dillon, of course, played for the Sharks from 2014 to 2020.

Or could Hertl and Dillon share the same locker room again? It’s not likely — the San Jose Sharks want to re-sign impending UFA Hertl and the Winnipeg Jets are cap-strapped. But Dillon went through in 2019-20, a UFA in his walk year, what Hertl is going through now. San Jose traded Dillon at that Trade Deadline to Washington.

“There’s going to be 31 other teams that want Tomas Hertl on their team,” Dillon gushed on Friday. “[But] he loves to play here. The guys love him in the room.”

Anyway, Hertl says the hit looked worse than it actually felt: “I saw him coming.

“I didn’t want to brace myself — sometimes when you brace yourself, you get hit like that, it can actually hurt [more]. So you gotta lean and just fall down and you’re fine.”

So is Dillon still invited to Hertl’s house?

“They’re coming in two weeks,” the San Jose Sharks star said, smiling. “We’ll see.”
