The San Jose Sharks visit FLA Live Arena to take on the Florida Panthers. Alexander Barabanov scored, but the Sharks were outlasted by Florida 4-1.

Period 1

Barabanov goal: Good traffic by Barabanov and Couture. Couture does a nice job to bother Bobrovsky, make him uncomfortable.

9 in: Gregor does nice job to force turnover up high. Looks like Hertl passes up a good shooting opportunity to turn it over on a pass.

10 in: Barabanov attacks the net, Meier finds him. Alex showing a stronger game so far than the Tampa one.

Eyssimont doesn’t get it in, that’s two times.

7 left: Gregor holds and holds in slot, shot gets blocked, but I like him showing patience and hopefully confidence offensively.

I’ve like Gadjovich’s jump tonight.

San Jose Sharks 6-1 Slot Shots, they’ve kept Panthers to outside so far.

Period 2

1 in: Ouch, ugly turnover by Gregor trying to one-hand it out and skate. That might get him sat. He does do nice job recovering defensively later on shift, getting in passing lane.

4 in: Strong forechecking work by Couture line, especially Eyssimont on Marc Staal. Leads to Couture chance.

Reinhart goal: But Kahkonen, very good so far, maybe gives up one that he won’t like. Not a great San Jose Sharks change, but that’s a save that he should make, I think. That’s one of those situational goals that Sharks goalies have given up all year too. They were just coming off an outstanding shift from Couture line, momentum swing hurts.

To his credit, Kahkonen has made big save after big save, Hahn says “It’s 1-1. Kahkonen…” but take the period out, that’s representative of why this game is still tied.

3 left: Exceptional shift from Barabanov though. On entry, holds off Gudas, keeps it along the wall. Makes some space top of the key with a nifty OZ deke, gives it to Ferraro. Then, nice job by Eyssimont to finds Barabanov high, who’s hiding in the weeds, waiting to hit soft spot. Finally, beats Lundell to loose puck in corner. Phenomenal shift, really. Has some pep in his step tonight.

Reinhart goal: Karlsson retrieving puck, I’m not sure what happens, but it looks like a funny bounce off dasher, puck just dies there for Panthers forechecker. Ugly-looking turnover. Don’t know if Karlsson was trying anything more than to try to smash it out, if he was, ill-advised. But can’t tell, bizarre-looking play. Then some traffic and Reinhart’s shot squirts through with 40 seconds in the period. Ouch, but Panthers have been working Sharks all period anyway, so deserved in a way.

Florida 7-4 Slot Shots in this period. Looks right.

Period 3

Good work by Eyssimont to make himself available for Couture pass to start period.

11 left: Don’t mind how MacDonald defends, feet are good and seems to be a gamer. Maybe he’s the next Sharks defenseman that the team can get value for?

8 left: OK NVM about MacDonald haha. Looks like he just loses handle in NZ, Panthers counterattack.  Barabanov does a good job sticking with it, stick in passing lane. Just kidding on my just kidding, I’ll be watching MacDonald more.

6 left: As usual, Sturm always has that extra effort, dives for point shot off back board, good chance.

5 left: Meier flubs it on PP, but works hard to backtrack on 2-on-1, prevents chance.

Ugly PP to end it.
