Sharks Claim a Winger, Trade a Winger, Put Sturm on IR

NASHVILLE — The San Jose Sharks have just made a couple depth transactions.
The Sharks claimed winger Walker Duehr off waivers.
Duehr, 27, has appeared in parts of four seasons with the Calgary Flames, skating fourth-line minutes (8:55 a game), and has nine goals and 10 assists in 84 games.
In the AHL, he’s had a more productive 37 goals and 32 assists in 127 games.
The 6-foot-2 South Dakota native was signed by the Flames as a free agent out of Minnesota State-Mankato in 2021.
In a corresponding move, the San Jose Sharks put center Nico Sturm on IR. Sturm has a lower-body injury, which made the center a late scratch for Tuesday night’s game at the Nashville Predators.
Warsofsky said Sturm is day-to-day with a lower-body injury.

The Sharks also traded winger Justin Bailey to the Anaheim Ducks for winger Pavol Regenda.
Regenda, 25, has one goal and two assists in 19 games over parts of two seasons with the Ducks.
The 6-foot-3 winger has four goals and 12 assists in 36 games with the AHL’s San Diego Gulls this season, and a career 36 goals and 39 assists over 140 American League appearances.
Regenda was signed as a free agent out of Slovakia in 2022.
Bailey, 29, has seven goals and seven assists in 33 contests with the San Jose Barracuda this season. Last year, he suited up for 59 games with the San Jose Sharks, scoring five goals and nine assists. He was also the San Jose PHWA’s nominee for the Bill Masterton Trophy.
The 6-foot-4 winger has enjoyed a successful American League career, scoring 143 goals and 112 assists in 403 games. He’s also put up 10 goals and 13 assists in 141 NHL games with the Sharks, Buffalo Sabres, Vancouver Canucks, and Philadelphia Flyers.
