Nick Flohr and Sheng Peng chat with the San Jose Sharks’ director of scouting on a wide range of topics, from what’s going with his hair (34:30), San Jose draft trends (48:20), which teams he thought would beat the Sharks to William Eklund (55:20), and how he wasn’t leaving the 2017 draft floor without Mario Ferraro (59:50).

“I didn’t think that there was a chance [Eklund] was getting through that alleyway of Columbus and Detroit at five-six. Columbus has a Finnish general manager who does a very good job. [Detroit GM] Steve Yzerman is unbelievable and he just keeps everything so tight, but they draft lots of Swedish players,” Wilson Jr. told the SJHN Podcast. “Once Mason McTavish went to Anaheim at three, we thought there might be an opportunity. But I never thought he was getting past five or six.”
