San Jose Sharks
Sharks Snap 5-Game Losing Streak, Pull Out 5-4 Win

The San Jose Sharks visit the Dallas Stars at American Airlines Center. Alexander Barabanov, Evgeny Svechnikov, Timo Meier, Logan Couture, and Tomas Hertl gave the Sharks a 5-2 lead, and San Jose pulls out a 5-4 victory.
Period 1
Benn goal: Yikes. That and Blumel breakaway not how you want to start a game. Not sure Benning should be chasing there.
Barabanov goal: Getting the puck to the net, chaos, gets Oettinger to move.
Good defense leading to offense, Meier's hustle leads to 40 seconds of #SJSharks zone time. Wrote about that today –> https://t.co/QcIK2cCXaV pic.twitter.com/x3Zvd40uOY

Svechnikov goal: Nice work by all the forwards, Lorentz first on errant Lundkvist pass, Lindblom gets it in front, Svechnikov outmuscles Marchment.
5 left: Sharks have ton of PP possession, but don’t get any shots off, got to give Stars some credit, no shooting lanes.
1 left: Barabanov’s got to put that away. Karlsson stretch pass causes two Stars to collide into each other.
Benn goal: That’s shooting yourself in the foot. Nieto turnover up high in OZ. Now you’re defending off the rush. And Karlsson actually makes an excellent defensive play, but then 20 seconds left, he tries to swing attack up. And hey, he’s Karlsson. But that’s a turnover in the worst part of the ice.
That's 11 https://t.co/GWwtQyrMsX

Period 2
Did #SJSharks waste another well-played period by taking foot off pedal? They're up 5-3 Slot Shots at Even Strength, should be up 2-1 or even 3-1 (Barabanov's late post). But instead it's 2-2

Meier goal: Meier on top of Hintz trying to exit, more good defense leading to offense.
Couture goal: Barabanov makes up for his late first period miss by giving Couture a gimme. Steals it from Heiskanen. Fantastic pass to Couture. Maybe no-look to fool Oettinger, other defenseman?
10 in: Gorgeous carry and chip by Barabanov, real good play.
8 left: Looks like Seguin gets behind Karlsson, but San Jose Sharks escape, crossbar. Not Karlsson’s best game.
7 left: Sharks had 2-on-1, Lindblom though doesn’t make a play when he has a chance, 3 Stars corral him. Doesn’t look like he’s playing with much confidence.
Per @hockeyfights, just Couture's 4th fight in his career. Has fought Pietrangelo, Mike Richards, Marchessault & now Benn

Not much of a fight though, Benn let Couture off the hook. But it’s a Gordie Howe hat trick officially for Couture.
#SJSharks may have lead, but uh, they were outattempted 25-4 in 2nd period. From Couture goal (1:05) to a Sturm miss (19:55), #TexasHockey held Sharks to ZERO shot attempts

San Jose Sharks have at least prevented the most dangerous shots — Stars just 3-2 Slot Shots in middle frame — but too early for defensive shell too. They are in second leg of back-to-back.
Period 3
Hertl goal: Great pass by Meier, Dellandrea falls asleep there, Hertl gets ahead of him.
#SJSharks have scored on 3 of their last 4 shot ATTEMPTS

3 in: Hedican caught a fantastic Vlasic play on PK. Under pressure, puck squirts to Vlasic, who fakes rim clear, then fires it up the middle and out. That’s veteran patience.
Oettinger went over 23 minutes without a save. Made two stops on #SJSharks from 00:20 of second period (Megna) to 4:33 of third period (Labanc). In between, he's given up three goals, made no saves

Hintz goal: Stars forecheck just eats up Sharks. Megna coughs it up, granted, had little time. Don’t love the angle there for Reimer.
9 in: Love that from Timo, attack from wing, cut to the middle.
Sharks defensemen are looking glass and out whenever possible, desperate to come out with the win. Can’t totally blame them, Stars are taking away middle too.
Pavelski goal: Even Karlsson going off the wall instead of looking toward middle. There, forwards have to be options though, Karlsson didn’t have much. Then Pavelski just beats Megna to the front.
Levels of losing, San Jose Sharks haven’t blown a three-goal lead yet this season. They haven’t had many of course. Let’s see if they can make some plays here, pull it out.
3 left: Not a great offensive shift, but good grind shift by Bonino, Kunin, and Sturm to strongman it out, at least. That’s the extra effort that is valuable from these guys, that you do not get from everyone.
Another empty net post by Nieto, wow

Happened against Panthers too.
