Have you ever wondered what it’s like to eat like an NHL player? Just ask the San Jose Sharks’ Ethan Cardwell:

“When I was up in the NHL, I was having a hard time keeping my weight down,” Cardwell said. “Because, I’m playing less minutes a night because like I’m on the fourth line most of the time and I’m eating way more because there’s food everywhere.”

On his show “Showbound: The Podcast,” Cardwell told co-host Michael Raskin about his time eating in the NHL. But first, Cardwell made sure to not diss his chef in the AHL: “I don’t want to I don’t want to sell out our chef here with the Cuda, but I think the budget’s a little higher so the meals you’re getting, I wouldn’t say it’s cooked better or whatever out here, but the budget’s definitely a little bit higher.”

Next, he took listeners through what an average day looks like:

The young winger concluded: “Don’t get me wrong, the food with a Cuda in the AHL is amazing and they treat us amazing there too, but the NHL is in a league of its own as everyone knows.”
