“We were all happy in the huddle, screaming,” Leonard said after the game, adding with a laugh, “Who knows what he was saying?”
Ferraro revealed to San Jose Hockey Now, “I think I said something like, ‘That’s perfect, eh?’”

And it was.
Perfect, however, isn’t how I’d describe John Leonard’s path to this moment. From enduring a 50-plus day road trip with the San Jose Sharks and Barracuda to not being able to share his first big-league moments in person with his family to being sent down after his NHL debut on Jan. 14, it’s been an unusual rookie campaign, to say the least.

San Jose Hockey Now caught up with Leonard last week, before his recall and first NHL goal.
We talked about hitting UMass teammate Cale Makar in a recent game. Leonard also revealed the toughest San Jose Sharks defenseman for him to beat at practice – the answer might surprise you. We also learned that Leonard might have crossed paths with Devan Dubnyk more than a decade ago. He also really loves blueberries!
