Exclusive: National Hockey Now 1-on-1 with Bill Daly

“Meaningless round robin games? I don’t agree with that.”

Rob Simpson sat down this morning for a National Hockey Now exclusive 1-on-1 with NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly.

In a lively chat, Simpson and Daly chatted about the origin of the “unfit to play” designation and the unsung heroes of Return to Play.

Daly also contended with Return to Play criticism, going back and forth with Simpson about the two-phase Draft Lottery, the possibility of Play-in series coming back in the future, and the “meaninglessness” of the round robin games.

“Hopefully, we never have to see it again,” Daly said of the two-phase Draft Lottery.
