REPORT: Couture Avoids Serious Injury, ‘Expected’ to Practice Tomorrow
It’s good news for the San Jose Sharks and Logan Couture.
Couture left Friday night’s 6-1 victory over the Anaheim Ducks after blocking a Cam Fowler shot on the penalty kill midway through the third period.
After the game, head coach David Quinn didn’t have an update, but did offer, “He just walked by, but I’ve got no update yet, I’ll have one soon.”
Quinn didn’t seem particularly perturbed by the sight of his captain, and that reaction seems to be a good sign.
The Athletic reported today: “Sharks captain Logan Couture didn’t practice today after blocking a shot with the side of his foot Friday night jn Anaheim, but is expected to be good for practice tomorrow.”
The San Jose Sharks don’t play again until Tuesday night against the Arizona Coyotes at SAP Center. Their next game after that is Saturday against the Los Angeles Kings at Crypto.com Arena
Since Couture’s injury doesn’t appear to be very serious, that should give the Sharks’ leading scorer – he’s tied with Timo Meier with 14 goals – plenty of time to heal up for game action this coming week.
It’s a sigh of relief for the 9-16-5 San Jose Sharks, who certainly can’t afford to lose their top defensive center and scorer for an extended stretch of time.
