Ferraro Talks Contract, Meier Running Over “His” Car With Tank
Mario Ferraro wants to remain with the San Jose Sharks. So much, that he said it twice in a single response.
“I’d love to be here for as long as I can,” the pending RFA said today. “The Sharks are the team that trusted my ability to get to where I am and trust that I’ll keep improving. So, of course, I’d like to be here for as long as I can.”
Ferraro, however, is leaving contract discussions to his agent Peter Wallen. Wallen told San Jose Hockey Now that Ferraro would like to stay long-term with the franchise that drafted him in the second round in 2017.
“My focus is on finishing the year strong and battling for a playoff spot,” Ferraro said. “That’s my job.”
Ferraro and the San Jose Sharks are currently seven points behind the Anaheim Ducks for a playoff spot, but have three games in hand on them.
The week or so off couldn’t have come at a better time for Mario Ferraro as it allowed him to spend time recovering after taking a puck to his face on Jan. 29.

“It’s not 100%, but I healed up pretty well over the break, and it’s getting there,” Ferraro said today. “So, it feels good.”
He was sporting a noticeable gap in his teeth today, looking a bit like his defensive partner, traditionally gap-toothed Brent Burns.
“A little too much,” Ferraro joked of the resemblance.
Speaking of jokes, Mario Ferraro took All-Star teammate Timo Meier’s recent digs at his car in stride.

“I said quit yapping about my car, but it was funny,” he shared about his message to Meier. “It was a funny joke. I enjoyed it. I got a kick out of it.”
So will he upgrade from his Kia Forte on the next contract?
“We’ll see,” he said, smiling — literally — tooth to tooth.
Hoping to see this (new) smile back on the ice soon! #MarioMonday pic.twitter.com/MSXbuCXgug
