Sheng’s Daily Links: Donskoi’s Stinging Words, Dell Makes a Commitment
Yesterday was a fantastic first day for San Jose Hockey Now, thanks to you! And for those of you who subscribed, a big thank you, you’ll get your first subscribers-only story today.
Yesterday, we launched San Jose Hockey Now. Ex-San Jose Sharks goaltending coach Johan Hedberg stood up strong for Martin Jones. And Windsor Spitfires head coach Trevor Letowski recalled his experience working with new Sharks assistant coach Rocky Thompson from 2015-17, detailing Thompson’s heavy interest in analytics.
I also appeared on the Locked on Sharks podcast to talk about what Thompson might bring to San Jose and the Teal Town podcast to chat about Doug Wilson’s induction into the Hockey Hall of Fame.
Today, we’re going to learn which Shark asked to be dealt at the Trade Deadline and debate the top-five UFA signings in franchise history.
In other Sharks news yesterday:
Patrick Marleau shared an emotional goodbye with his family, as he prepares to enter the NHL bubble in Toronto with the Pittsburgh Penguins. (NBC Sports Bay Area)
UFA-to-be Aaron Dell is about to sign another kind of contract. Congrats, Aaron! (Instagram)
It looks like the Sharks are going to loan newly-signed Fredrik Handemark back to his SHL team Malmo. Since the SHL season is scheduled to start in September (as opposed to the NHL’s December start), it’ll give Handemark a chance to stay in game shape. Hopefully, he stays healthy!
