Brent Burns has returned to the SAP Center and was welcomed with a video tribute.

The former San Jose Sharks defenseman, traded to the Carolina Hurricanes this past summer after 11 years in teal, was a fan favorite and was applauded loudly by the sellout crowd after the video.

With The Tank’s new scoreboard in full force, Burns became the center of attention as his highlights and top moments as a San Jose Sharks star were played for him and the fans.

In warmups, Burns was spotted talking to former San Jose Sharks teammates and staff members with lots of smiles and laughs.

Many fans brought signs to recognize Burnzie’s return to San Jose. Burns thanked them by tossing some pucks over the glass to adoring fans.

Burns, who started for the Canes, is wearing No. 8 but to the San Jose faithful, Chewbacca will always be the Sharks’ No. 88. Martin Necas is wearing the double-8 for the Canes.

This will be the only time Burns will be in San Jose this season unless these two teams meet in the Stanley Cup Final.
