GOTTA SEE IT: Knyzhov Translates for Barabanov, Hilarity Ensues
Alexander Barabanov made a memorable San Jose Sharks debut last night, scoring his first NHL goal — and the game-winner — in a 6-4 victory over Arizona.
Naturally, the press corps wanted to speak with him post-game, but the Russian native, in his first year in North America, is still working on his English. So we didn’t get him last night.
This afternoon, however, we got Barabanov with San Jose Sharks teammate Nikolai Knyzhov translating — and apparently, the 26-year-old KHL veteran’s English is a little better than even Knyzhov thought!

Smiles have been few and far between for the San Jose Sharks during their recent eight-game losing streak. Hopefully, Barabanov’s performance last night and the jocular atmosphere today is a sign of things to come.
